Starting the New Year Off Right

Greetings from Lift Up America!

Eighty-four University of Arkansas athletes came out to help distribute 120,000 servings of top quality protein for the needy of Northwest Arkansas.
Fayetteville, AR -- January, 2009

The January Lift Up America food distribution, in partnership with Tyson Foods and the University of Arkansas, was Lift Up America’s first event for 2009.

We are all dreadfully aware of the present economic downturn in America, and, unfortunately, it’s the less fortunate who are always the first to feel the pressure when the economy turns south. Millions of Americas are in need of a helping hand and food assistance is paramount. The less fortunate are seldom given protein, however, at Lift Up America events, Tyson always provides the less fortunate with the very best protein.

I attended the food distribution with Ted Gandy and Jaan Heiments from Here’s Life Inner City. Here’s Life Inner City is one of Lift Up America’s most valued partners. They organize all the local agencies that Lift Up America partners with in a city.

With your help, we really can lift up America!

The University of Arkansas athletic director welcomed local television stations and other news media outlets to the event, which was a combined effort of Lift Up America, Tyson, and the University of Arkansas.

John Tyson (on left), Chairman of the Board of Tyson Foods, along with his son John, joined about 200 others at the press conference. Tyson Foods, headquartered in Arkansas, is the world’s largest producer of protein.

More than 30 agencies showed up to receive the food on behalf of those people they serve back in their communities. They thanked us over and over for this much-needed protein.
