Dolphin Stadium, Fl -- December 11, 2007
On Tuesday, the Miami Dolphins had a "victory" in the community when they teamed up with Lift Up America, Tyson Foods, Publix Super Markets, and Westlake Produce to help fight hunger in the Miami area. The next Sunday, this hungry team had an important team victory on the field, beating the Baltimore Ravens, 22-16.
At this Lift Up America event, over 30,000 pounds of chicken and other food items were distributed to local charitable agencies who will be able to better serve those in their communities. Publix Super Markets also donated $50,000 worth of grocery gift cards to help families in need. This was made possible by Wayne Huizenga, Jr., who donated $25,000 towards the gift cards, with Publix Super Markets matching that gift.
Popular local broadcaster with NBC, Tony Segreto, hosted the event which included Wayne Huizenga, Jr., Dolphin players, "TD", the Dolphin mascot, and many other leaders and volunteers from the community.
Enjoy a few new pictures from the event below.
