Many less fortunate have lives of constant struggle. A Lift Up America Sports Event is much more than a fun escape from their normal routine. It is an experience that can inspire them to dream of a better future.
On June 12, nearly one thousand LUA MVPs enjoyed this field of dreams, hosted by the Minnesota Twins. First, each one received a special personalized MVP card from Life Touch (like the one on the right). All were cheered and greeted by a host of community leaders and VIPs as they marched through a tunnel under the stands. With thousands of fans already in the seats and the players finishing their warm-ups, our MVPs had the thrill of walking around the field and seeing themselves on the giant video screens around the stadium. One lucky child was chosen to throw out the first pitch and everybody enjoyed a 7-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
"We felt like royalty from the moment we stepped off the bus until the moment we left. I was delighted to see the expressions on the kids' faces when it started to sink in that they really were MVP's. They were grinning from ear-to-ear realizing the reception was for them, and when the light turned green for the door to open letting us onto the field...WOW! These kids, and this big kid, will be forever impacted by the love you showed us." - Russell Grigsby (Lebanon Lutheran Church)
"I got choked up as we passed the VIP's that were cheering for our kids." - Unknown MVP
"This was the best day of my life!" - A third-grade MVP
