September 12, 2006, New York City --
A fire left the girl in pink (left) without her hearing-aids. The family had no money to replace them. Thanks to the Starkey Hearing Foundation and Lift Up America's NYC Kick-Off, she now has a brand new pair. (must see photos)

Lisa Cram (wife of LUA COO Gary Cram) was sitting in the back row during the recent Lift Up America Press Conference in New York City. Here's what she discovered:
"When a group of children went up on stage with Bill Austin (Founder and CEO of Starkey Hearing) and Lou Ferrigno ("The Incredible Hulk" actor), a young woman next to me started crying. I asked her, 'Which one of the children is yours?' She replied, 'The little girl in pink. We had a fire in our home and her hearing-aids were destroyed in the fire. We have no money. If not for this [event] we would never have been able to replace them.'"

At the New York City Kick-Off Press Conference, Lou Ferrigno and Bill Austin address some of the kids who received hearing-aids at the event.

A tearful mother looks on from the back row as her daughter is able to replace her precious hearing aids.

A Starkey Hearing Foundation volunteer tests the hearing of a young lady at the Lift Up America event in New York City.

Lou Ferrigno and Bill Austin are joined by Justin Osmond, of the world-famous singing family. Both Ferrigno and Osmond represent the Starkey Hearing Foundation around the world.

Hearing and hope restored.
