A helper gets a helping hand
Hello Duncan Parlett,

October 6th: Pier 30-32: San Francisco --
Donald Johnson was one of many volunteers who donned a yellow tee-shirt ready to help lift up the less fortunate at the Bay Area LUA food distribution.
LUA COO, Gary Cram, discovered that Donald had great hearing difficulties and brought him over to the Starkey Hearing Foundation booth. His problems were severe enough that Starkey made arrangements for him to visit a local lab for specific high-tech assistance. He will be given special hearing aids ($3,000-$5,000 each). Without Starkey's generosity and the Lift Up America event, Donald could never have afforded these hearing-aids.
We are continually thankful for the tenacious generosity of our LUA partners -- Tyson Foods, Interstate Batteries, Give the Gift of Sight, The Starkey Hearing Foundation, and Cinemark --because sometimes even the helpers need some help.
Yours for Helping to Lift Up America,
Dave Hannah

an Amphibious Assault ship. Its primary mission is to embark, deploy, and land elements of a Marine landing force in amphibious assault operations by helicopter, landing craft, amphibious vehicle or any combination of these means.
